How to fall asleep faster: bedtime routine ideas

Are you tired of insomnia? Tired of thinking, "why can't I fall asleep? Is there something wrong with me?". Let me save you some trouble! Googling "how to fall asleep" isn't gonna help either, especially at night time! Your electronic devices emit blue light which further makes it difficult to fall asleep. Don't worry, in this article, I have included 7 best and unique ways that will teach you how to set a night routine and how you can fall asleep faster?

  1. Journal

Journaling is at the top of this list because you're gonna think about your day, emotions, feelings, and significant events before you fall asleep anyway. Why not just set some time aside before your bedtime? This way, you'll go to bed with a clear head and will fall asleep faster and more easily!

  1. Read a book

Reading a book before you sleep will help you feel relaxed. But, be careful of the genre you choose- read what you love and what fills you with hope. This will not only relax you before you fall asleep but will help you wake up with a smile on your face, waiting for the day to end and get back to your book!

  1. Write a gratitude list

Writing a list of things you are grateful for is a perfect way to end your day on a positive note! This will help you let go of stress, uplift your mood, and help you attract more things and blessings to be grateful for. Gratitude helps you let go of lack mentality, shows you just how beautiful your life is and how privileged you are to even have a bed to fall asleep on comfortably! Drift off with gratitude and sleep comfortably throughout the night!

  1. Diffuse an essential oil

Essential oils like lavender and jasmine appeal to the olfactory centre of your brain! You can use a diffuser for some time before you go to bed, or keep a tissue with a few drops on it near your pillow. This is one the best bedtime routines you can follow which will help you not only combat insomnia but will also invigorate your soul.

  1. Take a warm bath

Taking a warm bath a couple of hours before you go to bed will help you feel relaxed. After you get out of the bath, the water will quickly evaporate from your skin creating a cooling effect. This will mimic the temperature drop that happens naturally when you sleep and help you fall asleep faster! You can also use bath salts to feel even more calm!

  1. Listen to ambient music

Listening to some light music will help you feel calm and comfortable. You can choose any music or song that helps you fall asleep, the genre doesn't really matter unless the music excites or scares you. You can also experiment with some white or pink noise. Listening to some calming music will also help you with meditation which is another brilliant idea for a bedtime routine.

  1. Try some herbal tea

Herbal teas like one infused with chamomile is a well-known home remedy for falling asleep quickly! Just make sure your drink is non-caffeinated. Consuming caffeine before sleep will mess with your sleep and keep you awake!

Remember, whatever you try to fall asleep faster, we, as humans, are creatures of habit! Using any of these techniques will not miraculously cure your insomnia. Continue with your routine for a month and you'll observe a significant difference in your sleep patterns and you will be able to fall asleep faster than you ever did before!
